Museum of Puppetry Cultures and Toys at Modrý Kameň Castle It is a specialized museum with a nationwide scope, focused on documenting the history and present state of puppet theater, the history and development of children’s toys, as well as the history of the region in which the museum is located. The cultural-artistic, historical, archaeological, and ethnographic collections that the museum gathers, professionally processes, and preserves within the scope of its specialization are made accessible to the public through permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions, and a variety of cultural activities that are particularly popular among children and young people. The castle complex consists of the ruins of an old Gothic castle and a Baroque manor house, which houses the museum.
Opening hours
Summer season
May, June, September, October: Monday–Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
July–August: Monday–Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Winter season
November–April: Tuesday–Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (admissions every hour on the hour; last admission at 2:00 p.m.)
Tours begin every hour on the hour; the last tour starts one hour before the museum closes.
For larger groups, it is possible to visit the museum outside of regular opening hours by prior arrangement.
